In his 15 years of being a registered nurse, Matthew Jubelius has witnessed the amount of people who don’t have a doctor or access to healthcare. And, he worked alongside many team members who experienced burnout from the demand of people who require healthcare support.
Gary Nikiforuk had a passion for science throughout his youth and high school years. Once graduated, the route to completing his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering at the University of Alberta was a natural next step.
Strong-willed entrepreneur Mike Reinheller started his career in Medicine Hat when he opened Rhino Storage in 2015. In 2022, Reinheller was the only Southeast Alberta business to be accepted in the Alberta Catalyzer with his app, SpeedyBid.
In 1982, two brothers from Medicine Hat incorporated Auto-Star Compusystems, a software company that develops point of sale solutions for pharmacy, health and food, grocery and convenience retailers.
RPAS / Drones
Southeast Alberta’s Prairie Rose School Division hosted its first Drone Games event at Eagle Butte Highschool on Saturday, June 18, 2022. Target stations were set-up and invited students and drone enthusiasts to strategically fly the up and coming technology for four hours.
APEX Alberta with partners Community Futures Entre-Corp, Medicine Hat College, and Alberta Innovates announced the Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) initiative to industry stakeholders on Friday, June 17, 2022, to educate and further the conversation on how the funding will and could be used.
Owned by the Village of Foremost and managed by UxS Consulting Ltd., Foremost UAS Test Range is the first Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) airspace test range of its kind in Canada.
Benjamin Weir opened Octal7 Inc. in 2018 to offer a variety of technical services in Southern Alberta, from drone, photo and video operations, to technical illustrations, drafting, 3D modelling, conceptual rendering and map creation.

Dr. Orly Yadid-Pecht has been an inventor, entrepreneur, and engineering professor for over two decades. In the early years of her career, she experienced the implicit gender bias in entrepreneurship firsthand, which would later inspire and drive her to start the From Lab to Fulfillment (FL2F) workshop.
